My November Favorites

My November Favorites

Welcome to part two of this little blog series! It makes my little heart so happy that you guys have been liking all of this. Let me know if you guys want me to keep this up!

Alrighty. Favorites month 2. Not all of my ideas on this list for this month were quite as obvious in my life as many were last month, but I appreciate them all equally. Since Christmas is approaching, all of my free time has been spent combing through Pinterest (but what else is new). I love having this hub of trends, art, and inspiration right at my fingertips.

Again, not all of the items on this list will pertain to Pinterest, but many do circulate through my feed every once in a while. Let me know what some of your monthly favorites are!

Art

I am still working diligently on my graphic design endeavors. I am learning more and more about Illustrator and all of its hidden tools. I am currently working on designing merch for my co-members of the Student Activity Board. It is a different kind of project to figure out how to design something for apparel.

Typography: I have really been getting more into fonts and typography. I have been finding a lot of text design posts on Pinterest, and I have been finding super cool new fonts to download into my Adobe software. I also taught myself how to create interlocking letters in illustrator and am just learning new ways how to manipulate and design text. I think it would be really cool to design a font or typeface someday.

Color: I have also always loved color palettes and learning how they can totally change the mood or vibe of a design. I would love to learn more about colors, but for right now, I am just having fun enjoying their aesthetics.

Fashion

I will just get to the point: I am a Patagonia sl*t. I just love their shit. Their stores are adorable. Their marketing is impeccable. Their logo is so cute. Their products are amazing. The only downside are the prices, but you really are getting your money’s worth. But if you’re a broke college student like me, you turn to thrifting.

AND YOU COULD END UP THRIFTING PATAGONIA LIKE ME

Literally one of my best thrift finds yet this year. $30 for a men’s Patagonia synchilla fleece in perfect condition.

Like how cute is that? It’s perfectly oversized and so soft and it’s probably the best $30 I’ve ever spent. I am just so happy with it. Thrifting is just so awesome.

As basic as this sounds, I have been envying the girls with cute little Uggs. Not the super short ones, just the cute mini-ankle ones. My boyfriend despises them, but I think they are incredibly versatile. I have a taller pair that I have been folding down to expose the fur in a fun way, but I can’t really dress them up. I can really only wear them with leggings or sweats. So I am jealous of the girlies who are coming up with cute ugg and denim outfits and just stunting on everyone.

But alas. I cannot justify spending that much money on a pair of shoes right now. So I will continue to praise all of the short ugg girlies out there.

I have also found myself utilizing a lot of my plain basic pieces lately. I thrifted a forest green crewneck and it is one of my current staples and one of my top favorite pieces in my closet. I also have a pair of wide-leg black sweatpants that I can dress up or dress down really easily and I’m obsessed with them.

Body

I’ve decided to give my nails a break from anything but polish because a) they needed it but also b) I don’t need to spend more money than I already am. Press-ons are super awesome and I love them, but I’ve been having to appreciate my natural short nails more. I don’t have a whole lot of options for polish in my dorm room at the moment, but I’ve been making it work. I’ve been really liking not working about a nail falling off, but I do miss the clean and polished look that press-ons give me. But my natural nails make me feel more ‘clean-girl-natural-sexy-earthy’ girl aesthetic and I like it. Here are some of my recent Pinterest finds that I would love to have my nails feature.

Food

This will be short and sweet, just like its topic: the caramel brûlée latte from Starbucks with no whip. It is just a step up from a regular latte and is a special little treat that I like to enjoy during the holiday season.

Media

Music

Everyone by now knows about Blondie’s latest release. Midnights by Taylor Swift has been sweeping the nation. Despite the recent Ticketmaster fiasco, loyal fans are still racking up streams of her new album. My personal favorites are ‘You’re On Your Own, Kid’, ‘Bejeweled’, ‘Sweet Nothing’, and ‘Bigger Than The Whole Sky’. I personally did not try to get tickets for her tour and I am so glad I avoided that drama

I also discovered that my boyfriend’s cousin has an EP that I didn’t know about so shout out Lydia! Go stream her album, Egotypical. My favorites are ‘Satisfy My Soul’ and ‘Chance With A Ghost’.

I have also been enjoying:

  • No Rain – Blind Melon
  • Tomorrow – Shakey Graves
  • Big Jet Plane – Angus & Julia Stone
  • In a Week – Hozier
  • The Winner Is – DeVotchKa
  • Just A Dream – Ellie Banke
  • Missing You – Stephen Sanchez (with Ashe)
TV/Movies

The boyfriend forced me to watch the Lord of the Rings series and I will admit I really love them. The second one was my favorite and I now have a crush on Aragorn.

We have also been watching The Mentalist (HIGHLY RECOMMEND), Veronica Mars, and lots of How I Met Your Mother.

That’s all for now, my lovely readers! Hope you are looking forward to the December installment.
